Looking at this 2007 chevy silverado 2500HD with 6.6 v8 lbz. This truck is priced at 23,000 private seller and has 185,000 miles, but has a tow bar with it, a larger aftermarket radiator, and airbags for better towing. Always maintained by chevy dealer and looks great apart from minor dents and scratches. I’m 23 and curious about this being a good investment, plan to get a toy car down the road and get into that lifestyle eventually

It looks like a nice truck. I would haggle a bit on the price, maybe as confused as the driver’s side looks. I would also check how hard the top row hose is when cold. Turn the oil filler cap upside down on the filler tube to see if it blows off. If the hose is soft when cold and the oil filler cap is upside down, do not blow off when driving your product. I’ve already checked the truck out with a mate who had a diesel but he didn’t prove to be much help to make sure the engine is good but everything looked immaculate but it was also detailed all round. Thanks for the information. I will continue to do some research, I had a buddy tell me it’s a solid truck so I put a deposit on it for the guy to keep it but it’s only a $100 loss. I live in Cali so idk if that will affect the price. The car fax for the truck is $22,870 and they told me the truck is rare to find but overall looks extremely clean inside and pretty solid exterior besides door and bed dents. Even if I wanted to finance, I’d be a few grand over the 23k price. I was told that a turnover of the truck’s value is about 13k

The many scratches and the lift would be the big cons for me, otherwise high option stainless long bed LBZs are highly desirable and guide prices like KBB etc do not represent what people are really willing to pay for pre-DEF DPF trucks with CP3 pumps and adjustable ECUs. So it just kind of depends on how much you really want the truck. If you really want a starter diesel truck, you could probably do worse than the one you’re looking at. You can look at newer ones that cost more and are typically more problematic than an LBZ. Just plan on extensive maintenance, and it’s always a bit of a bummer to make a significant payment and spend money on repairs at the same time.
