For fans of the 1957 Chevrolet, the legend of the Black Widow is a strong one. This car is a Black Widow Tribute build completed in 2017. Impressive from day one, the original Black Widow, based on the two-door 150 utility coupe, was never itself a factory offering. Rather, they were special cars modified for factory racing by a small firm called the Southern Engineering Development Company, or SEDCO. Working with SEDCO, factory engineer Vince Piggins issued Chevrolet documentation on the parts you needed to buy over the counter to build yourself. The cars were popular and successful on the NASCAR circuit that season and became players in NHRA’s growing Junior Stock ranks over the next decade.
