1995 Chevy 3500 Dually Lifted

1995 Chevy 3500 Dually Lifted – So, this is where it all begins. After being the proud owner of my K3500 dually for almost a week, I started building!

Yesterday I tinted the rear cab windows with 5% Limo Black. It was my first time tinting the windows, so not perfect, but I’m very happy with the result!

Today I got a pair of new front tires and started some minor rust repair/prevention work. Removed the weather strips from the bottom of the doors and was not happy with what I discovered there. Immediately remove as much rust and dirt as possible with a wire brush. Anti-rust and then a coat of spray paint is applied. Should be good for now.

Also restored the US headlights to original (stupid regulations in my country don’t allow US lights when the car is imported). Looks very good. Still looking for amber bulbs to fit next to the existing amber blinkers on the lights below (see pic) which are now white: thumbsdow . They are not available in my country as US lamps are not allowed, so will have to wait for them to be shipped overseas.

I’ve also included some pictures of the large rust under the drivers side extended cab. I’m hoping to get it welded and painted as soon as possible with the new front quarter panels, as they are shot under the fender flares :banghead: .

While the rust is taken care of, I can start on the most fun part so far: the 6″ lift kit and front-end rebuild! This will take months to save up.

I installed some mud protectors and cleaned up the weather strips so I can reinstall them tomorrow when the paint dries.

Love the California plate! I have a 51 Hudson Hornet and I run it’s old California plates!

… anti-rust and then a coat of spray paint was applied. Should be good for now. Click to expand… Good! It won’t stop it, but it will slow it down..somewhat! I’ll stock up on some new/aftermarket doors..if the pinchwelds rust there’s no way to fix it. It’s a good idea to replace the sheet metal whenever you can.

Does that thing really need a 6″ lift? It looks like it has 4″ now – or did the fenders in the rear and someone bend the torsion bars in the front?

Personally, I’m not too fond of lift kits for daily drivers. I like to use my trucks for hauling/hauling stuff and with that type of lift you can’t easily get into the bed of the truck.

Maybe the idea of always jumping into your truck and leaving at age 22 doesn’t sound so bad after all!

Add in 33 years, a “few” pounds :hehe: , and some major injuries…if I lift a truck like that, I’ll blow out a knee or hip when I try to use it!

I was hoping the doors would still be saved. Oh well, I’ll see how long they last in the Dutch weather haha!

As far as I know, the truck isn’t lifted, I don’t see any fenders on the back, maybe an extra leaf but it could be. I’ve always loved the look of lifted trucks, so this will be one of the first things I do. As far as I know, I’ll be the only one in my country with a raised dually, and this will be even better. I really don’t need to? Truck for work or towing or anything. Citizens in my country don’t allow me to transport without a trucker license… It’s a childhood dream and hobby for me.

Confusion: Aren’t those turn signals US spec? If not, what are the specifications? Linked for progress. Click to expand… Yes salt is used here in winter.. so it absorbs. I’m still looking for the best way to avoid rusting in the future as this is my daily driver and I need it in the winter as well.

I also run 235/85/16. Too skinny for my liking, but okay for now. After the lift kit is installed I would look for new rims and tires, preferably 36? Tires, but too early to get into that now, gotta get the money together to rebuild the lift kit and front end first haha!

I’m still confused about the turn signals, they get damaged when the vehicle is imported in my country, trying to get them back to US standard.

It may take 2 to 3 months to get the lift kit and front end parts here because I like to order everything at once to save on shipping costs.

It appears that your country requires a side marker indicator that only works when the turn signal is used.

Click to expand… Wow that explains a lot, thanks! As for the front indicators, should they be in stock now? Only then will I change the bulb to an amber one. And what about the smaller front exterior indicators? (Image included) Are they in stock? Should my lights stay on when they come on?

Outside indicators are called corner markers or side markers in the US, and they light up with the headlights until you activate the turn signal.

Your truck has some sort of lift that is not the stock ride height

With the rust I’ve seen so far, I’d recommend before spending a lot of money on a lift kit tires and wheels
