2016 Ram 3500 Dually Lifted – Some truck enthusiasts have a pure passion for building a flawless custom truck, while others prefer to build a truck built for speed and performance. Rarely do you find someone designed and able to handle both in one build. Sabastian Luna was determined to accomplish this feat by the age of twenty-three. Sebastian’s parents were born in Mexico but moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he and his brother were born. “I’ve lived in the northern suburbs all my life,” Sebastian tells Truckin.
When Sebastian turned twenty and already owned a few trucks, he found a 2012 Ram Megacab in Austin, Texas. He and his father drove to Texas to pick up the diesel, but when they arrived, the truck’s 4×4 was inoperable. The dealership’s general manager felt so bad that they drove so far as to offer any used truck on the lot for the same price. He picked out a ’14 Ram Megacab and brought it home. After two years of searching for the right custom parts, he found Tyler at TruckWurx and brought him Ramul for performance work. While adding all the extra horsepower, the truck suffered four transmission failures until Sebastian decided it was time for a change. “We had already been looking for a replacement for a few months,” adds Sebastian, “This time we wanted a manual transmission to avoid all the problems we had.” He found the exact truck of his dreams, a 2016 Ram dual manual transmission located in North Carolina. Sebastian made the 800 mile drive to the dealership by himself to pick up his new rig.

The very next day back in Chicago, the new Ram was torn apart and he, his brother, and his father added the bumpers, grille, engine delete, and intake was installed. A few weeks later, Sebastian returned to Texas to pick up the American Force 26-inch wheels from the only place that had them in stock. Sebastian called a tuner and told him he wanted a super aggressive song and told him if it blew up he would be responsible. The thing is, if it wasn’t for bad luck, I wouldn’t have any luck at all. Well, once again, disaster struck eight months into owning the new Ram, the engine blew.

Sebastian decided it was either go big or go home, so he sent the dual to Tyler at Truckwurx in Louisiana. He sat there for a few months while Sebastian and Tyler thought about what was next. Tyler and his crew started with a teardown, initially removing the engine. They stripped the engine and got ready for paint. Fortunately, the cylinders were not damaged by the previously failed valve, so the cylinders were ground to stock bore size. The block and transmission were sent to paint to stay on theme and were also sprayed metallic blue.
Once the engine was flawlessly built, the exterior had to be just as impressive as the under hood. Sebastian’s father had a friend who had done some custom paintings. Sebastian called Tyler and asked if it would be possible to get the new Ram into SEMA based on the plans. Thirty minutes later, Tyler called and said “You’re in!” Kaotik’s Kyle and Spike’s Pasquale teamed up for a perfect blend of flake blue that lit up when the sun hit it. Tyler and the painters worked simultaneously on the dual, trying to finish the installation for the Vegas show.
Sebastian proudly displayed the finished Ram in the American Force double booth at SEMA and fulfilled his dream of not only owning a fully custom truck, but also being featured at the biggest show of the year. Sebastian would like to thank his parents Gonzalo and Maria for all their help and support, because without them none of this would have been possible. His goal was to achieve his dreams at the age of twenty-three, but with all his hard work and perseverance, he was able to achieve it at the age of twenty-two.

Special thanks: My parents Gonzalo and Maria, my brother Max, my friends who have been with us on the road, Nester Pasillas, the whole team at TruckWurx, especially Hector, who was there every night and kicks ass, Dennis for building the engine, Brandon at Elite Treatment and Tyler for believing in me and making my dream come true. Designed to match the power of 2013-2017 RAM 3500 4WD trucks, these systems upgrade the factory front radius arms and provide impressive on-road handling characteristics while improving off-road performance and allowing the installation of tires up to 37 inches.
The new radius arms are a substantial upgrade to the factory stamped units and improve ground clearance compared to the arm kits. The arms are fully boxed, internally gusseted, and designed to lock in the factory location while correcting the suspension geometry to 6.5 inches of lift. At the frame mount, the arms use extra-large, greaseable bushings to isolate road noise and vibration, while the axle mount is designed to retain the factory alignment cams for adjustment. The arms are shaped inward to maximize tire clearance and look great under the new RAM HDs.

In addition to the new radius arms, this system gets its height from 6.5-inch progressive rate front coils designed for a smooth ride for unmatched highway and trail performance. Steering correction comes from a dropped forged pitman arm and a heavy-duty fully welded front track bar bracket is used on the frame to center the front axle securely under the truck. At the front of this 6.5″ radius swingarm system is a pair of extended polyurethane dropouts, brake line relocation brackets, your choice of Zone hydro or Zone nitro shocks at all 4 corners and all hardware required to complete the installation. Out back, the rear is raised using a 5-inch block and long U-bolts to level the position and allow up to 37-inch tires to be installed.
What does it mean that vehicles equipped with a 2 piece rear drift shaft will need to be lowered? Or do I need to buy something extra or just the kit itself? I have a 2015 Ram 3500 diesel, dealer, I need the 6.5 kit, I was wondering if the SKU:D57 kit is the right complete kit for this truck?
