FAQ: Q: How is the system covered? A: It’s not, it comes pure steel for your powder coating/painting pleasure. Most people powder coat these unique systems to their liking. Q: Do you powder coat? A: We do not powder coat in house, but we do offer it as an option for an additional fee, this depends on the color you want. We use prismatic powder coatings, as well as many other options if you have a particular color you would like to match or use, we can help you. Q: Does this system work on a 3500 or dual? A: YES, the 3500 non dually has a different u-bolt, and the only thing unique about the dually is the long bed and the larger leaf package, we built this kit for both SRW and DRW trucks! Choose the 3500 option below & the long bed option if you have a long bed! Q: Do you offer a front coilover option? A: It’s been popular lately, but we don’t offer it for GMHD, we feel your factory quality and reliability is excellent as it is, and we don’t want to change that in any way, your ride quality and reliability are important to us. Q: Do you offer different shock options? A: Yes, we offer FOX and KING for your shock needs as options below. FOX IFP: 2.0″ FOX reservoirless shocks, great ride, quality shock. Slammed 2020 Chevy Silverado 3500 HD is far from a work truck This is not your average Chevy truck.
If you’re here to see a Chevy Silverado 3500 HD with a high lift kit, you better look away now. This one-of-a-kind Chevy Silverado 3500 HD was thrown in by Jake of Phat Phabz in Choctaw, Oklahoma who needed a work car with a unique style. This trashed Chevy Silverado 3500 HD may look like it’s style, but it’s actually the main work truck for the shop that uses it to tow and transport materials and trailers to the shop.

Even though Jake’s Chevy Silverado 3500 HD doesn’t look like a regular truck, it still does exactly what it was meant to do, just much lower to the ground. Thanks to the use of massive airbag suspension systems at each corner, the Chevy Silverado 3500 HD can raise and lower itself between three ride heights depending on the use case. To feed these enormous airbags, there are two five-liter air tanks on board.
This build was not a simple suspension swap. It took Jake and his team four months to complete the build which required a complete demolition of the truck. Jake’s Chevy Silverado 3500 HD rides on a custom chassis and benefits from custom bodywork to accommodate the truck’s insane adjustability. It also looks great in the process of maintaining the wide stance of the original truck.
The 9.0-inch airbags used in each corner of this Chevy Silverado 3500 HD have some very unique benefits. Today, most modern trailers use aeronautical technology to keep cargo safe during long trips. This means Jake’s Chevy Silverado 3500 HD rides better than factory while offering this unique height adjustment while still being able to tow heavy loads. This is what we call a win-win and part of why this build is so special. We test different trucks all the time, that’s exactly what we do here. As any longtime reader is surely aware, the majority of the pickups we test are fully loaded all-wheel-drive models with crew cabs. This is certainly not our choice, as the manufacturers decide which vehicles are sent to the various test fleets across the country. And we certainly can’t blame them, as your savvy automotive journalist will surely rate any vehicle more favorably if it’s equipped with all the fancy bells and whistles.
However, we pride ourselves on being different. We love all trucks equally and will test them all to the same degree, regardless of what options are available or not installed. That’s why we literally jumped at the chance to spend a week with a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD. But not just any 3500HD, this truck was a single cab, WT trim, two wheel drive with steel wheels and vinyl floor. Work truck enthusiasts will know what this means as this truck is the unicorn rated to tow Chevy’s maximum weight of 35,500 pounds.

Now, in the same way that we don’t get to choose which model of truck is available, we also don’t have control over the accessories that are available. Thus, unfortunately, the drag beast came to us without a turntable or a gooseneck. The truck still has a generous 20,000-pound towing rating from the conventional hitch, but unfortunately, the most common trailer weight we had readily available was around 8,000 pounds. Since we were so light, we didn’t worry about towing.
Instead, we did the cruelest thing we could think of with this truck: we used it as a daily driver. That’s right, over the course of a week we drove the daily elementary school carpool (although not many kids ride in the single cab, which is a blessing in itself), commuted to downtown Los Angeles for meetings, and drove a ton of food home from Costco. And we loved every minute of doing these normal things in life with a not-so-normal pickup truck.
