97 F350 Dually Lifted

97 F350 Dually Lifted – Going Hollywood “is usually a word given when someone makes it big time. Known for its bright lights and luxurious lifestyle, Hollywood is a mecca for success and fame, but it can also be an aura that changes the way you look at things, and makes everything just little sweet. Michael Rivera from Odessa, Texas, grew up on the outskirts of Western Texas in Fort Stockton, but ventured to Odessa with his family. While his two brothers were heavily involved in the automotive lifestyle, Michael focused on work on an oil rig.

“It’s like I’m in a different world, it’s the best of the best.”

But around that time, he saw that the lifted truck scene had just started and everyone in the oil field had already lifted the truck they used for work. There he met Eden Gonzalez, who had all the connections in the truck scene and helped him start his own customization journey. After he begins to pick Eden’s brain about what he wants, he is introduced to Cesar Olivas known to the community as “Tweety” and the owner of Tweety’s Truck and Tire, a shop responsible for some of the baddest trucks in the Texas area. With renewed interest, Michael inquired about building his own and got the ball rolling.

Michael bought a Dodge 3500 welding rig and had a modest lift, but his love for utility trucks disappeared and it was time for something better. He went out and bought a new Dodge Mega Cab, but it still wasn’t big enough. Finally, he chose a new 2017 Ford pickup and a 1997 Ford F-350 as a two-for-one buy.

Despite his love for the Dodge brand, Michael couldn’t resist having the new Ford body style and OBS together. The trucks, 20 years apart, became like siblings and he carefully added special parts to each one as they were now members of his family. But Michael saw something extra special in OBS and knew it was destined for something more.

Michael took Tweety’s classic Ford to add a Lollipop Red powder-coated Rough Country lift with Fox shocks. The building wasn’t complicated by any means, but it looked good to Michael at the time. About seven months later, Michael went to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas where his vision changed. “It’s like I’m in a different world out there,” Michael added. “This is the best of the best, and I want to be there with them.” After returning home, he wasted no time making plans to replace OBS.

Realizing that he had to step up his game if he wanted to come out on top at SEMA, Michael contacted RYD MotorSports in Vancouver, BC, because of their reputation for building some of the best rigs around. The builders at RYD made a 14″ lift for the front and rear, along with a 4 link setup that was built in house. Some 2008 Super Duty axles were made and 3.0 triple bypass bags over King Shocks with high steering and dual steering stabilizers were built and sent to Michael for install. Tweety’s enlisted to install a new massive lift with adjustable height.

When it came time to add some exterior additions, Michael chose Bodyguard Bumpers front and rear with Royal hooks and lights from Outlaw LED. Originally, he chose a brown and gold paint scheme and dubbed the build Gold$chlager. But then changed the color and had Lozoya Graphics and Painting coat all OBS in Blue Dove that set off the new golden lifting component. However, Gold $chlager has become what he calls a truck, so he stays. The good folks at Hornblasters added a powder coated train horn in Dove Blue and gold to match. To help Michael get in and out of the newly lifted Ford, a side-step power AMP was installed and painted to match.

Michael’s next step was to revive the vintage interior. We all know that the interior is the most used part of any vehicle and where we spend the most time, so it needs to be updated and updated. Michael found a small shop in Dallas and they added white leather bucket seats from a 2010 Ford truck and added blue piping, while blue fiberglass accents were added to the door panels. Even the seat belts are dyed blue to match the new interior color scheme. The rear bench seat was removed and replaced with bucket seats to increase space. Blue carpeting was added throughout the cabin to bring together a cohesive look.

Once done, Michael took his newly built Ford classic OBS to the 2018 SEMA show and was able to fulfill his dream of becoming one of the elite. Michael would like to thank his beautiful wife Ashley and Michael’s young son Peyton for their support and patience watching him achieve his dream. Special thanks to my two older brothers and their parents who gave me the dedication and perseverance to keep going when it seemed impossible. He also sends his thanks to Eden Gonzalez and Tweety from Tweety’s Tire for always being there to help and build one of the best OBS Fords on the planet. It took three trucks and a good connection for Michael to reach Hollywood status, and now “Hollywood Mike” has set the bar in the OBS game.
