Granted, the performance increase is impressive, but whenever you mention the word “reaper,” we expect something sinister.
Chevrolet Silverado Reaper By Southern Comfort Automotive And Lingenfelter
To be fair, the work done by Southern Comfort Automotive and Lingenfelter should not be downplayed. We expected it to be a little darker than what was actually presented. That being said, thanks to the Southern Comfort and supercharged Reaper package, the aero kit is pretty comprehensive.
The first is what’s responsible for the Silverado’s casual look. Yes, it looks quite different from the standard Silverado, something that we can attribute to the front clip restyling grille in that it looks like the hood moves a little further than usual in the trapezoidal grille. Note that it’s also different than the standard Silverado’s rectangular grille.
A new light system was also installed on the Silverado, which in this case is an integrated harsh industry flood light system and daytime LED running lights. It’s a succinct way of saying that Reaper has a more scary light. Speaking of intimidation, the kit includes a rock guard and side steps, an auxiliary switch panel, a Reaper gauge package, custom stitched headrest covers, Reaper custom graphics, and Serial Reaper badging.
Taken all together, the program is really intense, but somehow, Southern Comfort Automotive forgot that black, perhaps even matte black, is a far more appealing look than red on the Silverado.

As far as Lingenfelter’s involvement is concerned, the tuning firm renowned for its Corvette programs produced two sets of upgrades for the Reaper Silverado. The less powerful of the two is for the 5.3-liter V-8 EcoTec 3 engine that now pumps out 475 horsepower, compared to the standard unit’s 355 ponies. The bigger version of both will be powered by the range-topping 6.2-litre V-8 EcoTec 3 engine. From the Silverado’s standard 420-horsepower output, Lingenfelter’s TVS1900 Magnusson supercharger managed to increase output to an impressive 550 horsepower.
Finally, courtesy of Fox Racing, suspension work was done to improve the pickup’s overall sturdiness, while the Knee exhaust comes through the Corsa.

Overall, the mechanical and performance specifications of the Chevrolet Silverado Reaper are what we expected to see. And to be fair, the list of upgrades is exactly what we’d love to see on the Silverado.

There’s something about a red pickup with the name “Reaper” that doesn’t excite us, compared to how it looks in full black apparel.
The new generation Silverado was unveiled just in time for the 2014 model year. It received significant updates on the exterior, interior and under the hood, turning it into “the strongest, smartest and most capable Silverado ever”.
The 2014 Silverado is offered with a choice of three new EcoTec3 engines: a 4.3-liter V-6, a 5.3-liter V-8 and a 6.2-liter V-8 engine, with output levels ranging from 285 to 420 horsepower .
Kirby’s first exposure to the automobile world came when he caught Knight Rider on television as a five-year-old boy. David Hasselhoff didn’t make much of an impression on him (which later happened in Baywatch), but KITT certainly did. To this day, Kirby is confident that he will one day own a car with the same ‘feeling’ as the original KITT (not the 2008 monstrous). He doesn’t know when that will happen, but until then, he’s committed to professing his love for KITT and all the cars for that matter, over here. Read full bio When one thinks of the biggest rivalry, thoughts may go to the Red Sox-Yankees or the Packers-Vikings (or the Patriots and everyone else), but they are small compared to the rift between Ford and Chevy owners. There are potatoes. Each owner is loyal to their brand, and takes great pleasure in talking trash about other people’s product.

Back in 2014, when this Chevy Reaper was made, the Ford Raptor was temporarily out of production, so Chevy had an opening for Ford to tweak, and they took it. Enter the then-all-new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Reaper. Although in 2017 you can get one off the dealership floor, in 2014 the Reaper was a modified Silverado 1500 that was actually a joint venture between GM, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, and custom builder Southern Comfort, or SCA Performance.
Lingenfelter is a name that has long been known for great horsepower, and thanks to them Reaper now has a Magnussen supercharger to pack the Silverado’s 6.2-liter V8 and increase output to 550 horses. Founded by John Lingenfelter and now operated by his son Ken, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering has been building fast vehicles for 43 years and seemingly has anything and everything you need to get every pony out of your engine. GM contacting him was a no-brainer as the two companies have a long history of working together.
SCA Performance of Trussville, AL, has been building off-road qualified trucks since 1979, and doesn’t stop at Chevy. They can make almost anything you want, including Dodge trucks, Jeeps and yes, even Fords. When you visit their web page, you see a man and his dogs getting out of a pickup and getting ready to hunt. These guys know what it takes to get around the hills south of Mason-Dixon in style and comfort, but when it came to suspension, the owner called for off-road racing winners Baja Kits by Brenthal.
The truck was unloaded at Baja Kits in Anaheim, CA. where it went through most of the upgrades. The guys took the truck apart and then went to work on the suspension. Baja Kits added their 4WD Long Travel Race Kit, which included their fabricated 4WD Uprights. The King belongs to Brentel, and thus the Baja Kit, is the general shock of choice, so a pair of King Shocks, a 3.0 coil-over and a 3.0 Bypass, along with the King Air Bump, can easily eliminate that big hit. is used for.

The Trick Baja Kits’ rear cantilever shock system controls the Curry Enterprises’ floating rear end. It uses a pair of Dewar Springs leaf packs with King 3.0 triple bypass shocks and King Air bumps. The result is now that a Chevy can actually use all the Lingenfelter horsepower when off-road.
Bringing that power to the ground is done with the NV’s 17-inch Method Race Wheels that are equipped with 37-inch Falcon Wild Peak M/T tires.
There are Fiberworks front fenders and bedsides for those 37s. They each added 5.5-inches of wheel space on the stock, and a Fiberworks bumper valance upgrade was also used. When the glass was on, a nice satin black surface was applied.
An ADD Dimple R rear bumper is used and it gets rigid D-Series lights flush. Speaking of Rigid Industries, the 40-inch E-Series LED light bar extends across the top of the windshield to illuminate the path.
