Chevy Silverado Reaper For Sale

Chevy Silverado Reaper For Sale – When one thinks about the biggest rivalries, the mind can go to Red Sox-Yankees or Packers-Vikings (or Patriots and everyone else), but they are small potatoes compared to the rift between Ford and Chevy owners. Each owner is fiercely loyal to their brand, and takes great joy in talking trash about other guys’ products.

Back in 2014, when the Chevy Reaper was built, the Ford Raptor was temporarily out of production, so Chevy had an opening to tweak the Ford, and they took it. Enter the all-new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Reaper. Although in 2017 you can get one off the dealership floor, in 2014 Reaper was modified Silverado 1500 which is actually a joint venture between GM, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering and custom builder Southern Comfort, or SCA Performance.

Lingenfelter is a name long known for big horsepower, and thanks to that Reaper now has a Magnuson supercharger to pack Silverado’s a 6.2 liter V8, and raising the output to 550 horses. Founded by John Lingenfelter and now run by his son Ken, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering has been building fast vehicles for over 43 years and seems to have anything and everything you need to get every pony out of your engine. GM contacting them was a no-brainer since the two companies have a long history of working together.

Chevy Silverado Zr2 Will Introduce Supercharged Engine

SCA Performance, Trussville, AL, has been building off-road worthy trucks since 1979, and it doesn’t stop at Chevy. They will build almost anything you want, including Dodge trucks, Jeeps and yes, even Fords. When you go to their website, you see a man and his dogs getting out of the pickup and getting ready to hunt. These guys know what it takes to get around the hills south of Mason-Dixon in style and comfort, but when it comes to suspension, the owner calls the off-road racing champion Baja Kits By Brenthel.

The truck was dropped off at Baja Kits of Anaheim, CA. where it underwent the majority of upgrades. The guys disassembled the truck and then went to work on the suspension. Baja Kits adds a 4WD Long Travel Race Kit, which includes built-in 4WD uprights. King Brenthel’s, thus Baja Kits, the usual shock of choice, so a pair of King Shocks, one 3.0 Coil-Over and one 3.0 Bypass, used per side, together with the King Air crash to smoothly finish off the big hit.

Trick Steel Kits’ Rear Cantilever Shock System controls the Currie Enterprises floating rear end. It uses a pair of King 3.0 triple Bypass shocks with King Air Bumps, and a Deaver Springs leaf pack. The result is now that the Chevy can really use all of Lingenfelter’s horsepower when it’s off-road.

Putting the power to the ground is done with 17-inch Racing Method NV’s wheels that have been equipped with 37-inch Falken Wild Peak M / T tires.

Creating space for 37 people is Fiberwerx front fenders and bedsides. They each add 5.5-inches of wheel space over stock, and Fiberwerx bumper Valance upgrade was also used. When the glass is lit, a beautiful Satin Black surface is applied.

ADD Dimple R rear bumper is used and has a rigid D-Series flood light installed on it. Speaking of Rigid Industries, a 40-inch E-series LED light bar stretches above the windshield to light the way.

The bed now has a Decked In-Vehicle Storage system. In addition to the twin 48-inch drawers to hold a bunch of stuff, one of the many nice things about it is that it covers the entire bed area. It’s also tough enough to have 2000lbs piled on top of it, so there’s a bit of a trade-off between storage and power.

There are many nice things about the interior, too. It’s bone stock, but the seats are well bolstered, but the interior is about as well apportioned as a 2014 Chevy truck can get. The level of comfort is high, if not off-road ability.

When it was teased last week, it promised so much yet when it was introduced it delivered, well, not so much. Granted, the performance boost is fun, but whenever you mention the word “reaper,” we expect something sinister.

To be fair, the work done by Southern Comfort Automotive and Lingenfelter should not be changed. We just wish it was a little darker than it was presented. That said, the aero kit is quite comprehensive, thanks to the Southern Comfort and Supercharged Reaper Package.

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Questions

The former is what is responsible for the restyled look of the Silverado. Yes, it looks pretty different from the standard Silverado, something we can attribute to the front clip grille restyling that makes it look like the hood extends a little further than usual to the trapezoidal grille. Notice it’s different, too, compared to the rectangular grille of the standard Silverado.

A new lighting system is also installed on the Silverado, which in this case is an integrated Rigid Industrial Flood light system with LED daytime running lights. That’s a short way of saying that the Reaper has more terrifying lights. Speaking of intimidation, the kit also includes rock guards and side steps, an auxiliary switch panel, a Reaper gauge package, custom-stitched headrest covers, Reaper-specific graphics and serial Reaper badging.

Taken all together, the program is really intense, but somehow, Southern Comfort Automotive forgot that black, maybe even matte black, is a much more imposing look on Silverado than red.

As far as Lingenfelter’s involvement is concerned, the famous tuning company of its Corvette program produced two sets of upgrades for the Reaper Silverado. The less powerful of the two is the 5.3-liter V-8 EcoTec 3 engine that now pumps out 475 horsepower, compared to the 355 ponies of the standard unit. The larger version of the two includes a 6.2-liter V-8 EcoTec 3 engine. From the Silverado’s standard 420-horsepower output, the Lingenfelter TVS1900 Magnuson Supercharger manages to increase output to an impressive 550 horsepower.

Overall, the mechanical and performance specifications of the Chevrolet Silverado Reaper are what we expected. And to be fair, the upgrade list is exactly what we’d like to see in the Silverado.

There is just something about a red pickup with the name “Reaper” that does not excite us, compared to what it would look like in full black garb.
