Improvement Uhaul Cargo Van Seating Recommended – Let’s face it – Not all moves require a big moving truck. While this may have been your first choice, with higher headroom, some locations just won’t allow it. Now that you’ve made the decision to go with a smaller rental, how are you supposed to choose between renting a pickup truck or a van? Both vehicles are smaller and easier to drive for the average person and have a maximum load capacity of 4,000 lbs. Rentals for each vehicle also start at the same price! So really, what is the difference between the two? Do not fear the traveler, because we have the answer to your request.
Due to the open platform of a pickup truck, this vehicle is a do-it-yourselfer’s best friend. Simply load up your truck bed with any home improvement or other miscellaneous items you need to haul, and strap everything down to make sure they stay secure in your truck bed and move around.

The size and shape of a pickup truck bed helps haul larger and bulkier items such as appliances and furniture. With a towing capacity reaching up to 6,000 lbs., you can tow your vehicle or boat with you behind your pickup truck. Don’t let the van’s open bed put you off if you’re worried about exposing your cargo to potential outdoor conditions. Simply tie a tarp over your items and they’ll be ready to go! You and two other passengers can now continue on your way!

Unlike a van rental, a van only has 2 seats instead of three. However, vans have the feature of cruise control and additional tie down points. These rub rails and fasteners ensure that even in your already closed vehicle, things don’t shift and stay in pristine condition when you move them. If your items are more fragile, a van will likely suit your needs better, as your cargo will be protected from all outside weather conditions and can be stowed inside the van.
If you’re worried that all of your belongings won’t fit in the van or van, remember that you can make multiple trips when it comes to local moves or deliveries. Plus, if you need more room for a longer distance move, you can attach a trailer or pack and tow your personal vehicle behind a van. Another key point to consider when choosing between vehicles is where you will need to park for loading or unloading. If you pack your van with overly bulky items, it may get a little too big for some overhead clearance. Believe me…my mattress and parking lot became aware of this fact through strategic testing. If you don’t pack your van this way, it’s actually shorter than a van. Similarly, vans have sliding side doors for easy street parking.
Whether it’s a pickup truck or van you need, either one is available through U-Haul Truck Share, a 24/7 self-serve program. With auto-pickup and auto-return available, you can truly move on your time and no one else’s. Besides being a great solution for small moves, vans can be used for more than just moving! When it comes to business needs, vans prove to be a cost effective solution for many different uses. Establishing a corporate account with certain companies gives you the option of renting vans for daily, weekly, and even monthly use.
Vans are excellent replacement vehicles. If you own a business where you need additional vehicles to compensate for busy vacation periods, vans can be rented as backup resources for your fleet. For example, with the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday, flower delivery is extremely popular. It is common for florists to need emergency vehicles to ensure they serve their customers in a timely manner.

Another big advantage of a van is that it is easier to maneuver around busy streets and park in tight spaces. they also fit in places with low headroom. This makes deliveries possible within the city limits, where a traditional delivery truck could not fit. Side-loading doors also make parallel parking and unloading easier.
If your business has professional storage space, cargo vans can help you seamlessly transport your goods to and from. Find a company that rents vans to your storage location for even easier transportation.
Utility vans are great for small jobs such as moving an individual office. Instead of renting a larger moving truck, a van will give you just the right amount of space you need to move.
Have you used vans or know of other ways to use them for your business? Share your suggestions in the comments section below! Back in 2015, I wrote about my experience with a nearly new U-Haul Ford Transit 250 van that I had the opportunity to rent for the day. I expect you to remember how impressed I was and in case you don’t, I’ve conveniently included the link above for you. This week, I had such an opportunity again. However, when I stopped at my local U-Haul branch, I realized that the Transits were gone, and along with a row of new-but-old GMC Savana vans, they also had multiple RAMs (the brand formerly known as the Dodge) Promasters truck part. And now I find myself writing a series…

Well, that was perfect. While I had no intention of accepting any of the GMCs (although I really should next time, in the name of research if nothing else), I was interested in giving the RAM a shot. Superficially, it closely resembles the Transit and is the third of the “European-style” vans available in the US market if the Sprinter is included.
Surprisingly the rental process was improved from last time, the staff was friendlier and after the vehicle tour I was shown on my rental contract a nifty little gauge that showed exactly how many gallons of gasoline I should add based on what the fuel gauge showed before returning the van to bring the actual fuel level down to 7/8 as it was when I checked it.
Being the frugal (ok, cheap) renter that I am, in the past I would usually add a little gas, then fire the van up to check, then add more and repeat a few times until it was at about right, heaven forbid give them about an extra gallon. I don’t know why they don’t just insist on it being full every time, there is a gas station right next to the rental park…
Anyway, driving to my first stop, I realized it was an FWD pickup, but I didn’t know what engine it had. It turned out that the Chrysler 3.6-liter “Pentastar” V6 (280 hp, 260 lb-ft of torque) was mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Acceleration was quick, shifting was smooth, and unlike what others on these pages had previously mentioned, FWD was not an issue. Maybe after picking up a load.
How Do You Move In Houston During The Covid 19 Pandemic?
It feels like a cab-over style vehicle although it’s not one at all, the wheels are far forward and the engine is up front. The floor has easily removable panels for extra access to oily bits, I kind of took one off as I stopped at a light and looked at the fuel pump cover. However, there is very little to see of the hood and I didn’t even think of that huge trunk of a front bumper until I looked at these photos tonight. I guess it’s a good thing that it can be replaced in three sections, RAM touts that as a plus. This van had the 136″ wheelbase, which is in the middle of three options.
I noticed that the driver seems to sit higher than in the Transit and much higher than in an older “traditional” (American style) van. At one point I was stopped behind a late 2000’s Dodge Ram Cargo Van and noticed that my eyes were roughly in line with its roof, so I was actually sitting about a foot more top of the ground.
The issue I noted though was that the windshield wasn’t much higher than my eyes so you end up wringing your neck at the lights if you’re in the front row, and the sticker that U-Haul had applied to the top of the windshield was intrusive. In the interest of research, I tried lowering the sun visor. Don’t do it, it’s kind of like a blindfold, might as well start texting.
I’m 6ft 1in with a 32in inseam, people taller than me (like Paul N.) might have a bigger problem. In fact the gauges were half cut off by the wheel even when the tilt was all
