Tucker was a beloved son, brother, fiance , grandson, nephew, cousin, brother in arms and a great friend to many. Sergeant Tucker Williams served in the USMC from February 8, 2010 to December 3, 2017. Served in Operation Enduring Freedom, Helmund Province, Upper Sangin Valley, Kayaki Sofla, Afghanistan. Tucker was wounded in battle and received a Purple Heart. Tucker’s other military achievements include a Combat Action Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, NATO – ISAF Afghanistan Medal, Armed Forces Reserve “M” Medal, Naval Deployment Ribbon service, rifle specialist qualification. Tucker was an academic honor graduate of his basic combat engineering class. Tucker attended Johnson Elementary School, Berry College High School, graduated from Rome High School in 2008 and attended Georgia Southern University. In high school, Tucker was an All Area Honorable Mention wrestler his junior and senior seasons. Tucker was an avid gun enthusiast, black diamond snowboarder, played guitar, enjoyed fishing, hunting, cars and motorcycles, but most of all he was a true friend to many people. JACKSON HOLE, Wyoming—The heavy-duty truck segment has become so competitive that the newest product on the market is automatically king of the hill.
This year was historic. It all started with the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty and its 1,000 pound-feet of torque. Next, Ford promised that its updated 2020 Super Duty will be even more powerful and capable than its predecessor when it launches this fall.
However, as we write these lines, the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD are towing champions. After putting the first to the test on the roads of Oregon, we headed to Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming to test the second.
GMC is trying to develop a unique identity within the General Motors family. It recently announced the expansion of the AT4 sub-brand to all GMC models, while its all-new Sierra 1500 features exclusive technologies such as the CarbonPro cargo bed and MultiPro tailgate.

Sierra HD takes things to another level. Of course, it’s built on the same chassis as the Silverado HD, which is a widened and beefed-up version of the light pickup. Powertrain options are also the same. However, GMC has added a bunch of details and upgrades that are significant enough to separate its workhorse from the platform-sharing, bow-tie-wearing models.
The most significant is the first AT4 variant in the Sierra HD line. With skid plates under the body, tow hooks, a two-inch lift kit with Rancho shocks, an Eaton locking rear differential, and black-painted 18-inch wheels wrapped in off-road tires, the 2020 GMC Sierra HD AT4 is a direct threat to the new Ram 2500 Power Wagon and the upcoming Ford Super Duty Tremor.
GMC has an advantage over both rivals, which rely on gasoline V8s. The AT4 is available with a 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel engine that has been significantly improved for 2020. This proven unit now delivers 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque through an Allison 10-speed transmission, giving the Sierra HD a best-in-class towing capacity of 35,500 pounds (16,102 kilograms), making it the strongest off-road pickup truck on the market—at least for now.
The petrol V8 can also be specified with the big GMC, mind you. It’s a new 6.6-liter unit with 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. Paired with a six-speed transmission, it can tow up to 17,400 pounds (7,892 kilograms), which is not even half the capacity of a diesel.

The GMC team prepared a lot of exercises for us at the media event, one of which was an off-road track to test the new AT4 model. We had to climb a hill covered with large rocks, then deal with uneven terrain and muddy sections.
To be clear, the AT4 aims to fill the gap between conventional half-ton pickups and hardcore machines like the Ford F-150 Raptor, so this was exactly the kind of challenge the intended buyer relishes.
This was followed by two tugs. The first involved pulling a load of about 20,000 pounds (9,071 kilograms) on winding Wyoming roads. The second and most important towing exercise was validating the 35,500-pound maximum capacity with the Sierra 3500HD Dually.
In both cases the truck never failed. Powerful and smooth at all times, the Duramax under the hood impressed us with its raw power and torque, not to mention almost non-existent turbo lag compared to the Cummins engine in the Ram Heavy Duty.

Moreover, the 10-speed gearbox is extremely suitable for heavy loads. While pulling the trailer uphill, downshifting was silky smooth. The same cannot be said for the Ram and its six-speed box. GM engineers have done their homework and it shows.
The rudimentary dashboard design of the 2020 GMC Sierra HD is a disappointment. Even with the AT4 trim starting at $92,113, material quality is poor. Sure, you can step up to the leather-trimmed, chrome-accented Denali model, but the cabin still feels relatively cheap regardless. The good news is that GM plans to upgrade the interior of its pickup soon.
On the plus side, the various controls are conveniently positioned and there is no shortage of space. The extended chassis results in a huge rear seat with plenty of leg, shoulder and head room. Visibility is excellent thanks to the lowered belt line, while the infotainment system remains one of the best in the industry, along with the rest of the GM family. The interface is a model of simplicity and clarity.
The Sierra HD also adds towing assistance features such as the upgraded ProGrade Trailering System (optional). Using a tailgate-mounted camera and an available auxiliary camera mounted on the rear of the trailer, the system creates a composite image that lets you virtually see through the trailer—perfect for parking lots and other tight spaces

The 2020 GMC Sierra HD is finally positioning itself as a unique offering and towing leader in this highly competitive segment. With an outstanding off-road variant, exclusive features such as a multi-purpose tailgate and an unbreakable carbon fiber bed, plus a much more attractive design than its Chevrolet cousin, GMC’s new monster stands tall and defiant.
8/10 We were impressed with the diesel’s towing performance, as well as the smoothness of the Allison transmission.
10/10 Simplicity, ease of use and level of standard technology make the system a model for competitors.
5/10 A heavy-duty pickup truck is rarely fun to drive, but we have to admit the Sierra HD AT4’s off-road capabilities put a smile on our faces.
