Lifted Ford F450 Dually Recommended – Daily Slideshow: High-end boxed and lifted Super Dutys are all the rage these days. Mainly because they can literally do anything!

In the old days, trucks were only expected to do one thing. And one thing was work. But today, we want our trucks to do it all. That means hauling crazy loads, driving across all terrains, and taking the whole family to the movies. Everything is of the highest quality. Fortunately, Ford has us backed up with an incredibly powerful line of Super Duty trucks. But if you want to take these already awesome machines to the next level, all it takes is a few modifications to create a real head turner.

Lift and pack luxury trucks are all the rage and for good reason. Just call a shop like Scofield Performance in Florida, tell them what you want, and they’ll turn your ride into something truly special, with nothing more than a handful of bolts.

But when owner Jeff Scofield wanted to build a truck for his father, Danny, he knew it had to be equal parts usable and good looking. Because his dad didn’t just need a truck to drive around in, he also needed something to tow a race car with no problem.

When Scofield saw this 2017 With the Ford F-450 sitting in the lot of a local dealer, he immediately knew it was the perfect candidate for his next build. Already running great on its own, it didn’t feel comfortable with any of the truck’s strong mechanicals. Instead, he enhanced the look of the Shadow Black ride by painting all the plastic trim to match.

Scofield also added Bullseye Reto lighting for better looks and visibility. These little touches made a world of difference in how the device looks right off the bat.

Scofield then turned his attention to the position. Knowing that this truck would need to maintain the ability to tow a gooseneck trailer, air suspension was the obvious choice. Scofield opted for a pretty nice setup that includes a Kelderman 5-6” air suspension package and an AccuAir e-Level air management package.

With the truck sitting just right, it’s time to choose the perfect set of wheels to finish it all off. Since the rest of the truck was already blacked out, it only made sense to go with a set of similarly dark wheels. So Scofield opted for 22×8.25-inch forged aluminum American Force Baus wheels.

The aggressive-looking wheels are wrapped in equally aggressive 37-inch 13.50 R22 Toyo Open Country M/T tires to match the skies. At this point, the perfect all-round build is complete, but some performance modifications may appear in the future. When your vehicle name starts with the word “Alfa”, you better have something unique to help set the trend, or at least something better than most. Josh Burnett in 2017 The Ford F-450 Platinum is doubly successful in both categories. Josh grew up in East Texas and custom trucks were just a way of life. He first remembers seeing a custom truck when he was ten years old: “I remember a family friend of mine, Shawn Hickey, came by my house with his custom Ford truck,” says Josh, “I don’t even know why, I just do. he stopped and I was impressed.”

Growing up in a very low income neighborhood, Josh couldn’t afford a truck to drive and call his own, so he learned what he could about trucks and started building them for other people to make money. At fifteen, Josh bought his first truck, a Dodge Ram, which was a “piece of junk.” He continued to learn more about custom trucks and build them for all his friends. In the end, Josh drove about sixty different vehicles before walking into a dealership in Decatur, Texas, and purchasing his 2017. Ford F-450.

In the past, Josh was tasked with building trucks at the SEMA show, but luckily the trucks couldn’t make it. After receiving his new Ford Platinum home, he decided to guarantee that this building would take that long journey. Josh began looking for companies to help build or include him in his booth. The first company to show interest was American Force Wheels of Miami, Florida. Josh chose a 28″ American Force Fury kit from their latest catalog to fit the rig.

He hired Stephen Bayles of B&C Off-Road in Pasadena, Texas to do all the heavy lifting for the new F-450. Fury Off-Road Tires came on board and the tires were shipped to Josh, but they didn’t work on the wheels he purchased. This was the very first Ford F-450 to be lifted with 28-inch wheels, and it was done with a fair amount of trial and error. Josh used B&C Off-Road as a drop-in center for all parts. The hard-working crew added every detail that came along, including Fusion Bumpers and a Gravel Empire Grille. The process took five grueling weeks of non-stop work to get the all-new Ford Platinum where he thought it should be. The crew delivered the finished product to Josh a few hours before the vehicle was scheduled to pick him up.

A week before, Josh realized that the Fury tires were too wide for the American Force wheels and just wouldn’t fit. Josh messed around and got 53 inch tractor tires to go to the Las Vegas show. “When you’re the first to do something,” Josh adds, “it doesn’t always go the way you planned. In that short time they cranked the lift up to 20 inches and installed massive tires and called it the Alpha Dualie.

Josh wants to thank his beautiful wife, Tiffany, for putting up with his “SEMA crisis.” Special thanks to Jeff Isbell for driving in the middle of the night to meet him with the trailer to pick up and deliver the tires. Josh would like to thank Josh Knight, Dustin Skrillen, Josh and Travis Herzig, as well as the rest of the 3P crew for their hard work on the Alpha Dualie. Most importantly, he wants to thank the American Force crew for being the first company to believe in him and let him follow him throughout the build.
