Uhaul Cargo Van For Sale

Uhaul Cargo Van For Sale – When I’m renovating a house, my favorite day in progress (besides closing day of course) is dump day. It was on that day that I usually rented a large box truck and dumped all the accumulated debris, construction waste and other trash I no longer wanted into it and took it to the landfill after selling anything of value and recycling whatever was there.

On Wednesdays, such a day presents itself when I finish a project I’ve been working on since January. After I made a quick trip to the U-Haul franchise, I noticed that in addition to some of the usually larger GMC vans and box vans, they also had some brand new United States-market Ford Transit Vans.

After observing it I decided I could most likely put at least most of my trash in it and thought even if I needed to do two laps it would still be worth it as the cost per mileage is less than a box van but really it’s a chance to drive something different than usual.

Why Are There

So, for $19.95 per day and 59 cents per mileage fee, I became the temporary owner of an almost completely new van with less than 1800 miles of mileage, making it the lowest-mileage vehicle I’ve ever received from U- Haul of at least 100,000 miles and a significant improvement on the rolling death traps they used to give me.

If all they had was an older GMC or Ford Econolines van I would never have tried this, as those vans have too many tumblehomes, making the cargo area even more squeezed. The Transit has almost vertical walls, especially visible on the rear view, which will help as I have a lot of old desks, mirrors, and other large flat pieces to work with.

Driving it to my workplace instantly felt a lot different than any other utility vehicle I’ve driven. The seats are very comfortable with an adjustable lumbar, the steering wheel is comfortable and all controls are operated with the same fluidity and ease as other modern passenger car products from Ford. That’s a lot like driving a big Focus, actually.

Powered by a 3.7liter V-6 and mated to a 6-speed automatic (with optional manual control!) it’s pretty sprightly, even at our altitude. Well, at least when it was empty. Once I loaded it, it took more time to speed up but it wasn’t too slow by any means.

The slip I received from the dump later showed that when full of all my belongings it weighed 7980lbs and after emptying it, when I came out, it weighed 5340lbs, which obviously includes myself as well as a fairly full gas tank, so probably around 5000lbs empty .

I drove it a total of 52 miles on a variety of roads including residential, county roads as well as the I-25 freeway at speeds of up to 80mph and when I returned it the Average MPG reading read the same 15.4mpg as when I received it. Not bad at all for something this useful.

As I drove it, I imagined that it would be a very useful vehicle for me, perhaps more than a pickup truck if I had a more regular need for something like this. The passenger version (modern Club Wagon) in my opinion is probably quite good, because dynamics and driving comfort are the main for a vehicle of this size.

It’s really not much different from FWD minivans like the Toyota Sienna or Honda Odyssey though in this case it’s rear-wheel drive. Visibility is pretty good except straight back, as evidenced by the broken taillights and minor scratches someone has inflicted on the rear right corner. A backup camera will be a big advantage for this vehicle.

The dashboard is very well laid out with a very handy holder for my phone just to the right of the steering wheel, a cupholder in the corner of the dash, a good radio with Aux-In plug and plenty of storage space.

While I was driving it started to rain, I was pleased to see that the wiper control had a “nudge to wipe” feature that many American cars don’t have. The ability to keep both hands on the wheel in rain or fog is a smart and safe engineering and perhaps one of my few complaints about my current Chrysler is that it requires me to take my hands off the wheel to turn the wiper controller to get a single lap.

As far as cargo loading is concerned, the rear door opens to hold and the push of a switch can open almost any way flush with the sides of the body. The side door opens in the same way but not very far.

One thing that would have really helped was the mooring as both the back and side doors tried to close me a few times due to in some cases the wind and in other cases the fact that I was on a sloping driveway.

What I have is the standard roof version but the high roof version allows the operator to stand fully upright at the back, making the version the ideal mobile repair shop for all types of traders.

Overall I really enjoyed driving this van, it’s light years ahead of a full size traditional American van, I’m looking forward to seeing more of this on the road as well as for the inevitable custom and cutaway versions that will make campers, minibuses, etc.

A flatbed version would be a very useful idea and the load bed can be very low compared to today’s pickup trucks.

In the end I had to make two trips. The first trip was pure trash, the second trip allowed me to take some usable items like light fixtures and other items to Uncle Benny’s in Loveland, an architectural salvage place that paid me $50 for what will no doubt be a treasure to others , which covered most of my cost of renting a van for the day and then dropping a bunch of cardboard and metal at the recycling center with a little extra trash for landfill.

To me, this house is also a Curbside Classic, even though it’s on the other side of the sidewalk compared to the spaces we’re used to seeing.

As the much smaller text below the image notes, $19.95 is really just the basic “In Town” fare offered only to those who return the vehicle where they pick it up. And $19.95 doesn’t include mileage fees (you know, if you really want to move that stuff) and “cost,” a general term that can really mean anything U-Haul wants.

In fact, renting one of these 9-foot vans or 10-foot trucks may cost you at least double or triple the amount advertised on the vehicle. And, if you drop off your rent at another U-Haul location, there’s an inclusive flat rate with no discount for unused days or mileage.

Here’s a look at what $19.95 excludes and how it can all be added up in a very consumer-unfriendly way:
